Pillar High School takes a functional approach to preparing students for adulthood. Our transdisciplinary, collaborative approach meets the unique needs and abilities of each individual student as they approach graduation.
We prepare students with disabilities for adulthood by embedding transition-focused skill development into every aspect of the school day. Activities of daily living – from feeding to peer interaction – are structured opportunities to build independence and self-advocacy. Our specialized curriculum aligns with Common Core Standards in Language Arts, Math, and Science while adapting instruction to meet each student’s personal, educational, and therapeutic goals. Our curriculum is supported by educational technology that strengthens academic programming and digital literacy. Through individualized transition planning, community-based instruction, job site placement, and job training led by Certified Employment Specialists, students gain real-world experience that promotes a successful transition to adult life.
