Pillar Care’s Virtual Volunteers

Since the start of the pandemic, Pillar Care volunteers have led more than 140 virtual visits with our group home residents and Pillar Schools students.

In celebration of #ReadAcrossAmericaDay, tomorrow March 2nd, volunteers Michael Giannone, Michele Giannone, and Michael Begley virtually popped in to Pillar Elementary School classrooms dressed as characters from the popular Dr. Seuss book “The Cat in the Hat”! The trio travels to Pillar Elementary every year to excite our students about #ReadAcrossAmericaDay, while also honoring the memory of the Giannone’s daughter Gabriella, a former student at Pillar Elementary (formerly Horizon School). While the group could not be there in person this year, they made sure their message rang true by utilizing zoom to interact with Pillar students. We are so grateful for their generosity and continued involvement with Pillar Schools. Tomorrow, volunteers will be connecting with Pillar students online to read together in further commemoration of #ReadAcrossAmericaDay!
